This animated short is an ode to Louise, a fiercely independent 96-year old inspired by animator Anita Lebeau's grandmother. Speaking in her own voice, Louise takes us through a day in her busy life near the town of Bruxelles, in rural Manitoba. Between coping with garden gophers and reaching cupboards that have grown taller, Louise's plans sometimes miscarry, her sense of humour is foolproof.

Such rich visual detail, so personal, and the simple narration was perfect right up to the last line which made me laugh! Well done Anita and thank you.

This made me miss my Gramma. Louise's voice reminds me of my Gramma.

No arthritis, but she is alone. It made me sad

I have begun illustrating my own family stories, including a story about my husband's French-Canadian grandmother. I found this story so endearing - I hope I live as long as Louise!

Absolutely delightful! I love the blend of animation and photographs. The character of Louise really shines through. Very well done with the details being very poignant. In one day, there is a history journey of many years. That's cool!

Umm, what's with all the flies? Was there something dead in or around her house? Kind of distracting. Other than that it was a super-cool short film. Love her attitude. Reminds me of my mom and grandmom. - L

I wish I had a grandma, especially one like her. Actually, I hope I'll be just like her when I get old. I really enjoyed it and I could have watched her through a whole week of her routine. Thank you for this story.
