Two Inuit Lives

Two Inuit Lives

                                Two Inuit Lives
| 53 min

The first Canadian Inuit pilot, Johnny May, has been flying through the skies of Nunavik for more than half a century. From his viewpoint in the sky, he has witnessed the passing of two distinct eras. The first comprised the forced settlement of his people, the massacre of the Inuit sled dogs, and the end of traditional life with its folklore, parkas, polar bears and igloos. Now he is witnessing the melting of the Ungava ice, the heart of the Arctic landscape, as the planet warms up and the thawing earth and sea attract developers and speculators. Throughout these epic changes, Johnny and his wife, Louisa, have learned to adapt to the modern world while preserving their Inuit identity.
