Discuss Napoleon’s famous adage, “an army marches on its stomach,” in relation to this film. Comment on Germany’s decision to feed its troops, while allowing civilians to go hungry. Research the use of “scorched earth” policies, throughout history, as a military strategy. Are they always successful? Discuss.
